Trying to sell your home? Here at Homeasy we’ve put together some of the best tips we can give you (without spending a fortune) to improve your homes to appeal to buyers, take a look…..

First impressions count…

You want to leave a good first impression on your potential buyers the second they see your home. That includes things like being able to see your house number, make sure it isn’t hiding behind shrubbery. Moving onto your front garden (if you have one), keep it neat and simple, so your buyers can get a good idea of what they’d like to do to it. One last thing… Clean your windows and doors! It really will make a difference and show you’ve taken care of your property.

Declutter…

If your home is cluttered, it can make it very difficult for a buyer to imagine the space how they would like it, so as close to a blank canvas is best. It’s also a great time to choose what you’ll be taking with you when you move, if you want to take it with you, put it away for the viewing. Anything you won’t be taking with you, if it’s in good condition take it down to your local charity shop or get down to the carboot to make a few extra pennies!

Keep it light & neutral…

Make sure you keep all your blinds or curtains open! People want to see it bright and open, it will make the rooms feel more spacious. If you have any brightly coloured or dark walls, it might be a good idea to get a tin of paint and give them a couple of coats in a neutral colour, people want to see the home as modern and clean as possible. It’s also a good idea to get your windows open before your viewing to make your home smell fresh and clean.

The big clean…

This is your opportunity to make your home look and feel brand new. Make sure you hoover everywhere in your home and polish all your surfaces, even light fixtures and any decorative ornaments. All your bedding, towels and any linens should be washed prior, to make sure your home smells fresh, nobody wants to see lived in bedding. Lastly if you have any pets, it might be a good idea to ask a friend to look after them for an hour or so.

The little things…

Your potential buyers will pick up on the little details in your home, as they’ll be looking at everything to see what changes they’d like to make if they wanted to buy your home! Your garden is a big selling point, so mow the lawn, trim the hedges and maybe add a hanging basket or two. Check all your light bulbs work, any door fixtures are working and your wheelie bins are hidden if possible!
